My goal as a coach is to make the sport of volleyball fun and enjoyable for the players while also pushing them to reach their fullest potential and watching them grow both on and off the court. I played junior high and high school volleyball at O’Leary and continued with club volleyball from U14 to U18. I’ve been coaching for 9 years, all with FOG, and this is my third year coaching in the FOGG program. What excites me most about this season is seeing the players develop and grow throughout the year!

My longstanding philosophy to coaching is to develop lifelong skills and attitudes to ensure future success both on and off the court. My motto is always 1. Have fun, 2. Work hard, 3. Treat everyone with respect! I grew up in Edmonton, starting my playing career with Riverbend, Scona, Edmonton Volleyball Club, Team AB (85-89), University of Alberta Golden Bears (88-93), and professionally in France (AS Monaco). Over the past 25 years, I’ve remained very active playing in beach and indoor recreation leagues before focusing on coaching school and club teams since 2015. I was the head coach of the FOG boys program for 7 years, working up from U13 to U18, followed by a brief year of refereeing. I am thrilled to be involved in the FOGG program to help identify and develop future leaders of the sport and foster lifelong friendships. I am a certified NCCP Developmental Coach and see the U15 age as a critical developmental phase where players continue to acquire and refine skills, with an emphasis on competition.

With 50 seasons of coaching experience, I have worked at every level of the game, from U12 to high school, club, and university. I spent nine years as a head coach at the post-secondary level, including five seasons with the University of Alberta Golden Bears and two with the Pandas. For the past 30 years, my focus has been on technical coaching at the university level, applying my Ph.D. in Biomechanics to skill development. I am passionate about helping athletes reach their full potential and am excited to bring my expertise to this talented group while working alongside Boris and Ollie.
