FOGG Volleyball Club Policy
The FOGG Volleyball Club is dedicated to creating a positive, respectful environment for all members, including athletes, coaches, and parents. We aim to foster sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth through structured training and competition. To maintain the quality of our program, we operate with clear guidelines on athlete behavior, social media standards, disciplinary action, and financial commitments.
Athlete Behaviour Policy
As a representative of the FOGG Volleyball Club, athletes are expected to demonstrate appropriate conduct both on and off the court. Athletes should respect and follow the instructions and guidance provided by coaches, as well as act responsibly if a coach or supervisor is absent.
FOGG Athletes are expected to:
Attend all practices and games on time, notifying coaches of any planned absences and reasons.
Cooperate respectfully with coaches and teammates.
Refrain from any form of abuse (verbal or physical) towards others.
Follow all rules and curfews set by coaches or chaperones.
Avoid pranks or jokes that may endanger the safety of others.
Respect and care for all property, including Club equipment and facilities.
Not engage in theft, vandalism, or any form of property damage.
Remain at practices or tournaments until officially released by a coach or chaperone.
Travel to out-of-town tournaments with a parent or adult chaperone.
Avoid any consumption or possession of alcohol or drugs (including vaping) during Club activities. Prescription or over-the-counter medications are permitted with parental approval.
Disciplinary Actions: Athletes who violate the above standards will face disciplinary measures. Illegal activity during out-of-town events will result in the athlete being sent home immediately at the parent’s expense, and disciplinary actions will be determined by the Club Manager and coaching staff.
Social Media Policy
FOGG Volleyball Club values positive communication through social media. To foster respect and uphold the Club's reputation, athletes and families must follow these standards in their social media activities:
Recognize that all posts can be viewed publicly and should be appropriate and positive.
Do not harass, defame, or threaten others.
Refrain from impersonating or misrepresenting yourself or others.
Do not collect others’ contact information or encourage illegal activity through social media.
Disciplinary Actions: Non-compliance with these standards may result in disciplinary measures from the coaching staff or FOGG Team.
Disciplinary Action Policy
The FOGG Volleyball Club has established disciplinary procedures based on the severity of infractions, which are classified as either Minor or Major.
Minor Infraction
Minor infractions will be addressed by coaching staff, and athletes will have an opportunity to discuss the incident with them. Disciplinary actions may include benching or assigning additional team responsibilities.
Examples of Minor Infractions:
Isolated instances of disrespect or unsportsmanlike conduct.
A single incident of tardiness or absence from a team event.
Curfew violation.
Major Infraction
For major infractions, disciplinary actions will be jointly determined by the FOGG Team and coaching staff. Documentation of the infraction will be collected, and the athlete will have the opportunity to present their account in writing. Consequences may include permanent expulsion from the program. All fees paid are non-refundable if an athlete is removed due to a major infraction.
Examples of Major Infractions:
Offensive or discriminatory remarks.
Repeated unsportsmanlike behaviour.
Persistent tardiness or absences.
Endangerment of others’ safety.
Alcohol or drug use during Club activities.
Acts of theft or vandalism.
Playing Time Guidelines
As per Volleyball Alberta Regulations, Developmental Substitution Rules apply for all U12, U13, U14 & U15 teams:
All players listed on the score sheet must start either the first or second set.
For U15 only, no substitutions may take place before one team has scored 15 points .
If a third set is necessary, any line-up can be used.
For U16–U18 teams, equal playing time is not guaranteed, however, coaches are expected to provide meaningful opportunities for all athletes over the course of a tournament or event. This includes:
Balancing competitive performance with player development.
Giving athletes a chance to demonstrate skills in both practice and match play.
Communicating clearly with players and parents about roles, expectations, and decisions related to playing time.
Considering individual effort, attendance, attitude, and team needs when determining court time.
The goal at these levels is to compete at a high standard while continuing to support athlete growth, confidence, and readiness for future opportunities.
These policies are in place to ensure the well-being of all members and uphold the values of FOGG Volleyball Club. Thank you for your commitment and dedication to fostering a respectful and safe environment for all.
