Headshots : Marcus Viray-Hebrada
My coaching philosophy is rooted in a passion for mentoring young athletes, recognizing their potential, and fostering growth in a positive and inclusive environment. My goal is to empower individuals with the confidence to take on challenges both on and off the court.
I have been playing volleyball for 15 years and had the opportunity to compete with the U17 FOG Volleyball Club. Unfortunately, two major knee injuries cut my high school playing career short, but they also deepened my appreciation for the sport.
Over the past decade, I have coached multiple junior high and high school teams, and last season, I took on my first club Head Coach role. Volleyball has taught me perseverance, empathy, and the power of community—values I strive to pass on to my athletes.
I’m excited to join the FOGG Volleyball Club as the U12 Head Coach, where young athletes begin to realize their potential and develop teamwork, communication, and leadership skills. I look forward to sharing my love for the game and inspiring the next generation of FOGG athletes!
With a strong focus on fostering a fun and positive volleyball experience, I strive to help athletes perfect the biomechanics of their technical skills while developing a love for the game. Growing up, I played club volleyball in the Edmonton area before earning the opportunity to compete at the NCAA level. As a freshman setter, I was honored to receive an All-Conference Honorable Mention.
Currently, I am a teacher and coach the senior girls' volleyball team at Holy Trinity High School. In 2023, I was recognized as the Metro Athletics Coach of the Year for senior girls' volleyball. I am excited to inspire young athletes and instill in them the same passion for the sport that has shaped my own journey!
